Ghale Gaun TrekkingGhalegaun is one of the majestic villages which have unparallel scenic views and unique ethnic life styles. Ghalegaun (village of Ghale) is situated at an altitude of 2100m in western Nepal. Just 85 km north east of beautiful Town Pokhara. Ghalegaun is one of the best, picturesque places of western Nepal. Especially, the warm welcome of local inhabitants provides new experience of typical Gurung and Ghale cultures, rituals during Birth, Death and Marriage. In addition, locally produced food items like gain vegetable, meat, milk, eggs and others make trekkers have new tastes. Ghalegaun is an excellent destination for the superb views of ice giants such as Machhapuchhre (6,993), Annapurna (8,091m), Annapurna II (7,993m), Annapuna IV (7,525m), Lamjung Himal, Bouddha Himal (6,974m), Himalchnli (6,747m) and many smaller peaks.
Ghalegaun is rich in cultural diversity Gurung people perform unique cultural shows by wearing old traditional costumes. They perform age-old cultural dances like Krishna charitra, Jhankri, Jhyaure, Serka, Dohori, Ghantu with mixed tunes of different musical instruments Nepali New year and Buddha Jayanti are celebrated with traditional dance named ‘Ghantu’ During Birth, Death Marriage, typical Gurung-customes are followed. The great culture, they welcome visitors by offering of garlands and ‘Tika’, with music and dances where as bid farewell with farewell songs. People rare goats and sheep in Ghalegaun and make woolen clothes. They make clothes and bags from nettle fiber and scarf, towels and shawls from the wool of angora rabbits. Iron and bamboo instruments are made too. Honey-hunting is the most challenging and interesting skill of collecting honey from the nests of wild bees built on steep cliffs. Honey-hunters hang themselves as high as 300 meters using bamboo ladders and hemp ropes and collects honey with the help of smokes. Every one is in surprise while watching this skill. Ghalegaun is decorated with more than 95 Gurung style houses that have clean comfortable rooms and restroom lighted with lamps and even water- heating system run by solar power, Good camping sites are there. Aama Samuha (mother’s community) has run few guest houses. So more than 100 tourists can be accommodated with Nepali dishes plain rice vegetable curry, fried rice, chicken curry, daal-bhaat, egg curry, dhendo soup, chapatti, bread, garlic soup, vegetable mixed soup and mo.mo, local foods like cereals, milk products, eggs, meat and vegetables. Ghalegaun can be reached from Khudi, the nearest road head in Lamjung, through another Gurung settlement Bhalam chour. Khudi can be reached easily from Kathmandu by road drive. Wildlife such as butterfly, birds, insects, species of animals and plants can be seen on the way which makes Ghalegaun as University for biodiversity, lifestyle and cultures.

Sirubari Village Trekking

Sirubari Village TrekkingSirubari village is one of the best destinations of village tourism and trekking area for these who appreciate traditional, unspoiled village life. Sirubari village is also another Gurung settlement area situated above 1700m in Syanja district of western Nepal. Sirubari village is just 30 km west of Pokhara and accessible after short walk or bus drive. The climate with warm days and cool nights remains during September to June that is suitable for trekking. The region has a plant nursery covering 380 hectares of flora including million trees and plants. Trails and steps are formed and pared. You can see cottage industries such as paper-making and handicrafts. So, it won the PATA Gold Award 2001 in the heritage and culture heritage category.

Highlights

Sirubari is the model village for a growing new trend in village tourism in Nepal. Sirubari village is an agricultural and animal's husbandry based community. A Management committee provides whole management for visitors, their welcome, accommodation, sightseeing and guiding. An easy walk above the village is a viewpoint at Dahare Deurali, a famous religious site, the beautiful location for viewing snow-peaks Annapurna, Machhapuchhre (fishtail) and Dhaulagiri. The people are friendly and well educated about tourism. The accommodation is simple but comfortable with good bedding, clean toilets and delicious, hygienically prepared Nepali Daal-bhaat consisting of locally produced rice, lentils and fresh vegetables is offered under fooding. People perform cultural traditional dances and songs at nights and give respect as you are one of the family members. You can enjoy by watching their daily chores, tending animals, farming, school going children and sunbathing, besides, community funded Primary Health centre, the Veterinary hospital, agricultural service centre and forest plantation add new feelings. You never forget the warm welcome and farewell till though you are not served electricity, television hot showers, bottle beer, and hamburgers facilities.

Itinerary of Sirubari Village Trekking

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu, transfer to the hotel.
Day 02: Cultural sightseeing in and around Kathmandu and preparation for the trek
Day 03: Kathmandu to Pokhara
Day 04: Pokhara to Arjunchaupati and trek to Sirubari
Day 05: Wake up early and start hiking to Dahare hill for sunrise views. Explore the village and its surroundings then drive back to Pokhara.
Day 06: Pokhara to Kathmandu.
