Phewa Lake

Seti River Gorges:

David's fall

World peace Stupa

Gupteshwor Cave
Gupteshwar cave is situated 2 km south and west of Pokhara airport and its entrance is right from Devis fall. The cave is near about 7 km long and one has to depend on all fours to see to see it. Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Gautam Buddha, lies in 21 km. west of Bhairahawa and 265 km southwest of Kathmandu. The Sacred Garden
In Lumbini there is sacred Garden where the temple of Maya Devi with her holy image is preserved. Maya Devi, the Great mother of Lord Buddha said to have given birth to Lord Buddha here in 525 B.C. She was the Queen of King Suddhodan. Enshrined in a small style, the image shows and mother of Crown prince Siddhartha Gautam. She is seen herself by holding on with her right hand to a branch of Sal tree, with newly born infant Buddha standing upright on a lotus pedestal on an oval halo. Two other celestical figures are depicted in an act of pouring holy water a lotus bestowed from heaven
The Ashoka Pillar
lumbini-ashok-stupaThe Ashok pillar which was discovered by famous German archaeologist Dr. Fuhrer, shows the evidences of Lord Buddha's life, and is the visible land mark of auspicious garden. The inscription written on pillar is very important for the history of Buddha. It is believed that the holy pillar was erected by Indian Emperor Ashoka, during his visit in Nepal in 250 Bc. The inscription of on the pillar roughly translates as: " King Piyadesi, the beloved of the Gods, having been appointed 20 years, came himself a worshipped saying here Buddha Shakyoumuni was born. He caused to make a stone representing a horse and he caused stone pillar to be erected. Because here the worshipful one was born the village Lumbini has been made free of taxes and recipient of wealth".
Shakya Tank and Buddhist monasteries
There is Shakya Tank when Maya Devi, the mother of Lord Buddha is said to have taken bath before giving birth to Lord Buddha and where infant Buddha was given his first purification. The central, important place of Lumbini and to the entire Buddhist world for that matter is the stone slab located deep in the Sanctum Sancorum. Around, this holy site, there are remnants of Monasteries and Chaityas built over the centuries following Buddha's birth.

Baraha Chhetra

This region is located 20 km away from a town in eastern Nepal-Dharan. It is among four great religious places of Hindus. Baraha Chhetra is one of the famous temple nestled nearby Sunkoshi and Koka rivers. In this temple, an incarnation of lord Vishnu is said to have killed the demon Hirankshya. Apart from main shrine dedicated to Baraha, there are many other temples with images of the Baraha (incarnated vishnu) in Baraha-chhetra. Every year on the first Magh (November), a religious fare takes place here.

Manakamana

manakamanaThis Hindu temple lies to the west of Kathmandu, 125km away in Gorkha district. The temple of Manakamana is one of the manifestations of Hindu Goddess Bhagawati. Bhagawati is believed to have the power to fulfill wishes. It is a steep three hours hike from Abukhaireni on Kathmandu-Gorkha Highway. Cable cars also take travelers to Manakamana from Kurintar on Kathmandu-Pokhara Highway.

Janaki Temple

The oldest and most popular city in Nepal, Janakpur is a city of dozens of holy pools, with a number of ancient sites. The really famous object for adoration in Janakpur, is Janaki Temple which is compared with the Taj Mahal of India. This temple has occupied 4860sq feet in a mixed style. Islamic and Rajput, Domes the temple is 50m high, a three stored structure made entirely of stone and marble. December for Vivah Panchami (marriage over 5 days), the town's major annual festival, when the marriage of Sita and Ram is celebrated with various re-enactments, popular time for modern day weddings. It is said to have been a great centre of learning for scholars in ancient times, Janakpur once had hundred of sages who contributed to Hindu philosophy, with one of their oldest works being the famous Upanishad Brihadarandyaka written in the form of a dialogue which deals with the gods, the nature of Brahma, the supreme reality and the introduction to the self. Janakpur is inhabited by Maithis who have own script, language, tradition and culture. The religious Mithila art is well known in the local and international art world.

Tansen:

Tansen is headquarter of Palpa. It is located in Nepal's central hills, at an altitude of 1,372 m above the sea level. It is a bright Himalayan town situated on the slopes of a hill called Shreenagar Danda. It is the most popular summer resort in western Nepal from where you have panoramic views of Nepal's chief attractive Himalayan from Dhaulagiri in the west to Gaurishankar in the northese. Moreover, you can have the view of sweeping Tinau river valley and surrounding Mahabharat hills including Terai's flat.

From here, the hills of Darjeeling Kurseong and Mink can be seen. One can reach here by surface or by air to Biratnagar via Kathmandu, and drive to be there.
