Damodar Kunda/Dudhakunda TrekkingDamodar Kunda is very famous Hindu pilgrim mainly from April to September every year. Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimages visit here during the full moon of August for the festival and people bath in Damodar Kunda to get rid of all wrong doings and sins for the believers as Lord Krishna said "who pays visit to this Kunda and takes a deep bath, they'll be freed from all the sin." Moreover, the lines described in Puran (Hindu Theology), the two sons of Kuber were suffering from wrong-doings and released from all sin after lord Krishna suggested them to bath in this Kunda. This religious Damodar Kunda is situated at an altitude of 4890m in a basin in the Damodar Himal and flows southward through a rain shadow valley on the eastern edge of Annapuna Range. Damodar Kunda trekking lies on the restricted upper Mustang between Kagbeni and Muktinath, three days walk north east of the main Mustang trekking route, very close to Tibetan border and windy place. A bit higher than the lake, just a short climb up some of the hills, you can have great views.Annapurna Himalaya lies to the south and Damodar Himal lays to the north, which includes Muktinath Himal (6706m), Bhrikuti Peak (6,364m) along with 65 other peaks in this Himalayan Range. The river Kali Gandaki is originated from this lake. Damodar Kunda trek will be risky to trek by those who have breathing problem. Heart problem, over weight, blood pressure and you must take health check up before your trip. One must take a Gamo Bag Air pressure Bag. Being restricted area, you must have special trekking permit arranged brfore hand through registered trekking agency.
