Kanchenjungha TrekkingMt. Kanchenjungha is located in the northeast of Nepal, Tibet (China) in the north and Sikkim (India) in the east. Among the highest mountains, Mt. Kanchenjungha (8586m) is the third highest peak in the world and the second highest peak in Nepal. It was opened to trekkers in 1998, though people have trekked in this area in connection with mountaineering expedition since the turn of the century.Kanchenjungha Trekking is one of the pristine high mountain areas in Nepal. Kanchenjungha is translated as “Five Treasures of the snow“. Though this superb Kanchenjungha massif, you see the unforgettable cultures, lifestyles, costumes and dishes of inhabited castes like Rai, Limbu, Sherpa and Gurung. Not only this, this massif is decorated by the abundant wildlife such as musk deer, blue sheep and, for the believer the “Yeti”. You will be over the moon with the untouched and magnificent views of Everest, Makalu and Kanchanjunga massifs.
Kancheunjungha area is conserved under the supervision of Kanchenjungha Conservation Area ( KCA) which contains 11 peaks over 7000m. Kanchenjungha Trekking is one of the most adventurous and difficult trek. You start Kanchenjungha Trekfrom Kathmandu to (Tumlingtar of Taplejung accessible by) air, Ilam or Basantapur accessible by road. Kanchenjungha Trekking begins with the first camp at Chauki then trek though Gyabla, and ascend to the highest camp at Pang- Pema (5,140m) and camp at Lohnak. The trek ends at Suketar via the decent from Omje Khola then back to Kathmandu. Trekkers must be self-sufficient because there are only tea houses and lodges in lower part but no more facilities in higher elevation. The rewards of these all efforts, trekkers earn really natural and scenic views of rhododendron forest, spectacular panoramas and undreamt views.
