Everest Trekking


himalayanEverest trekking Nepal is the most popular itinerary when it comes to trekking in Nepal. Everest Trekking takes the trekkers to the region of Mount Everest, world’s tallest peak. Because of this fact, Everest trekking gets crowded almost round the year with large number of foreigners making it to Nepal just to get the glimpse of Everest and enjoy the adventure of trekking along the realms of the mountain. Also, eight out of 14 highest mountains in the world including the Mt. Everest (8,848 m) are located in Nepal forming a Great Himalayan Mountain Range. Most Nepali people refer Everest as ‘Sagarmatha’ with the Nepali name meaning “Forehead of the sky”, while the Tibetans and Sherpa people call it as “Chhomolungma” which means the “Goddess mother of the world”. Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, a Sherpa from Nepal and a New Zealander Sir Edmund Hillary first scaled the Everest on 29 May, 1953 marking a glorious history which was to follow later with countless other expeditions.
Most of the trekkers from across the world are well known to Mount Everest, situated on the North East of Kathmandu in Eastern Nepal. The region of Everest is also popularly known as the region of Khumbu by the local Sherpas. Its comprises not just the Everest Base Camp but also other popular cites and places like the beautiful and vibrant town of Namche Bazaar, Lukla, villages of Tengboche and Dingboche, and also the whole of Solukhumbu which comes under the protected area of Sagarmatha National Park. The Everest trekking has rich features that add excitement and heavenly feelings to the viewers. Any trek in this region follows the route of the green emerald called ‘Dudh Koshi’ (River of Milk) ascending through the forests of rhododendron and pines, rushing rivers, heart touching waterfalls with many flora and fauna, glittering cascades and spectacular sceneries. It takes through one of the foothills of highest of the mountains in the world. Everest trekking offers exotic and panoramic views of several snowcapped peaks such as Mount Makalu, Mt. Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and many more from Kalapatthar, also known as the Everest Base Camp. UNESCO first recognized Sagarmatha National Park and enlisted it in its World Heritage List in 1976.
The Monastery of Tengboche, Gokyo Lake, Gokyo Valley, Khumbhu icefall, Yak caravans etc are some of the salient features ofEverest trekking. The Sherpas who are the local inhabitants of Solukhumbu region add more pleasure with their unique culture and traditions, friendly behaviors, picturesque village, festivals, Buddhist monasteries and temples, with rites performed by Lamas (priests ) and their unique life styles, agriculture livestock, trade and mountaineering are their salient occupations. Everest can also be reached through 7 to 10 days walk from Jiri (a small town in Dolakha district), or through flight from the Capital city of Kathmandu to Lukla. The 35-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla is adventure in itself as you can enjoy the flight looking at the snow-capped mountains before landing at Lukla. Everest trekking is moderately strenuous as during the course of the trekking the trekkers will get the idea of trekking in Nepal.
